Twitter Follows

I want to do a blog about the best athletes to follow on twitter. I will be doing this in a 4 part blog featuring 10 in each blog. I'm going to do this in alphabetical (by last name) because I couldn't pick a #1 #2 #3 so on. I love following all these guys for different reasons. Most of them are baseball players but there are a few non-baseball athletes.

   1) Jeremy Barfield @Baseclogger --- Jeremy is a current minor league outfielder for the Oakland A's organization. He loves his job and is working hard to get his chance to shine in the Bigs. He has some of the funniest tweets on my TL! He also loves to interact with the fans and recently did a give-away of his "Rocket-arm" action figures.

2) Logan Bawcom @LoganBawcom --- Logan is a minor league pitcher in the Dodgers organization. His tweets are encouraging, yet sometimes just goofy. When he gets to 1000 followers he is also going to send out some signed cards.

3) Ben Bowman @BenjBowman --- Ben (or as he is sometimes called Benj) is not YET a pro player, but is working to get there. He loves the game of baseball and is from RI (which is just plain awesome!)! His tweets are absolutely hilarious and he cracks me up every time i read his tweets. He's one of the first people I followed and I've been laughing since.

4) Steve Bumbry @sbumbry --- Steve is a minor league outfielder for the Baltimore O's organization. He is one of the best guys on twitter! He's a funny and encouraging guy who loves to tweet about baseball and just random stuff. (When you go follow him, follow his awesome gf @Abigail_Marise too!)

5) Calvin Culver @CalvinCulver11 --- Calvin is a minor league outfielder for the Atlanta Braves organization. I recently started following Calvin and I already love his tweets. His tweets are motivational. He will also talk to his fans whenever he can.

6) Todd Cunningham @Todd_Cunningham --- Todd is a minor leaguer for the Atlanta Braves system. He is a funny guy who loves to joke around. He is newish to twitter but seems to have the hang of it pretty well. He will interact with the fans/followers and have funny convos with his teammates.

7) Cody Decker @Decker6 --- Cody plays for the San Diego Padres minor leagues. He is always making jokes and saying some of the craziest things. You can't help but laugh.

8) Ryan Dent @RDdeucess --- Ryan is a minor league player for the Boston Red Sox. He will interact with fans as well as goof off with his teammates. (You may know him as @LB_D3NT but that account was hacked so this is his new one)

9) Casey Dykes @CaseyDykes --- Casey is an infielder who plays at Western Kentucky University. A lot of Casey's tweets are about life as a college student/athlete. He also tweets Bible verses and encouraging quotes.

10) Richard Giannotti @JustMeGee --- Rich plays for the Maryland Blue Crabs. His tweets are super funny and usually so random. He makes me crack up reading his tweets. He does interact with his fans and will talk about just about anything! He also has a clothing line which you should follow (@bubucheek).

These are the first 10 must follows on twitter! I hope you will follow and enjoy reading their tweets as much as I do. I will work on the next set of ten ASAP. Thanks for reading!..... Go follow!!!!

There is a new King of Detroit. Well he will probably be called the Prince of Detroit given his name and all. Prince Fielder has reportedly signed a 9-year, $214 million year contract with the Detroit Tigers. Prince will be a good fill-in, offensively, for a Tigers team that lost Victor Martinez to season-ending knee surgery. I know Prince is worth a big contract, but with this he would only be making a little less then Albert Pujols, who I think is a better all-around player then Fielder. I don't think that Fielder is worth that much, but I could be wrong.
The Tigers do now have two first-basemen in Fielder and Miguel Cabrera. My thoughts would be that Fielder and Cabrera would share the DH and first-base duties.
The main problem with Fielder is his weight. He is a extremely slow base runner. Which is probably why he always tries to hit a homer, so he can trot around instead of actually running. Haha. He is not as mobile in the field as a first-baseman should be, which may affect how much playing time he gets at first. Not that Cabrera is a fast runner either. They're both pretty slow. They are defined as basecloggers according to some people   (Jeremy Barfield a.k.a. @Baseclogger).
I'm not sure whether it will be a good fit for Fielder in Detroit or not. We will find out soon! What I do know is that the AL Central, heck the whole AL, just got a lot tougher with Prince and Albert both in the AL now. Also the NL Central is wide-open for anybody. The Cardinals still look to be the favorite to win, not just because they are the World Champs, but because they have such great minor leaguers. I'm not saying that any of the minor leaguers are going to replace one of the greatest players in the game, but they will help the Cardinals without them spending a lot of money. The Brewers still look to be competitive and the Reds can always be surprising. I also won't count out the Cubs this year with some of the moves they have made. Well not until about mid-June.
I hope that Prince will meet up to the high expectations that have been set before him. Also hope that the AL Central is competitive and not just a one team race. So that's what I think of this Fielder deal. Would love to know y'all's thoughts!

My first blog

My first blog..... ummmm..... LOL. I decided if I wanted to be a baseball announcer one day it might be helpful if I have some experience writing. So why not write a blog. People may read it. They may not read it. Some may love it. Some may hate it. I really doesn't matter to me. When I write, it will mostly be about sports and a lot about baseball. I eat, sleep, breathe, watch, love, and am always thinking about sports. If I see a number I automatically associate that number to someone's jersey. It's just how my brain works. Lol.
Most people have no clue who I am, but if you have a twitter you can follow me at @SALTY_39. I love to talk sports with anyone. My favorite sport is definitely Baseball, but i also love Football, Basketball, and Hockey. Pro and College of them all. My teams are the Braves, Cardinals, Red Sox, Rangers, Twins, Cowboys, Titans, Grizzlies, Celtics, Penguins, Preds. The Colleges I like are Ole Miss, Memphis, UNC, and U of Texas (a lot of teams I know!). Even if you are a fan of the Yankees, Lakers, Eagles, Steelers, Phillies, Red Wings, or U of TN (my most hated teams) I still welcome you to read and comment!
Other than sports I'm just a normal girl.... no wait there is NOTHING normal about me! Lol. I know girls who like sports, but I've never met one girl who likes sports as much as me! I don't even know many guys who like sports like I do. Dancing and singing (even tho I sound awful) are two things i enjoy doing. I also like to play pick-up games of basketball and hang with my friends. That is, when I'm not watching a game.
I'm going to try and write at least once a week. Maybe more. Hopefully i won't bore whomever reads! Sports. Sports. Sports. Baseball is right around the corner!
